Mite Half/Cross/Full Ice Game Regulations

USA Hockey and MN Hockey limits the number of full ice games that can be played at the Mite level, consistent with the ADM model which has been proven effective in developing youth hockey players.

What this means for Spring Lake Park Youth Hockey is:

  • D and C Mites continue to play half ice games all season long.
  • Mite B, A and U8 Mites continue to play half ice during the regular season and work in a limited number of full ice games near the end of the season. As an association we feel limiting full ice games is a good thing for the kids. They will play on smaller ice giving them more chances with the puck and requires them to make quicker decisions. We will present more on why smaller ice is more beneficial at mites and why it is used by all ages including the NHL
